Little Farm Winery

Tucked on Newton Road in Cawston, Little Farm Winery is one of the Similkameen Valley’s most quietly celebrated producers — a small, hands-on operation run by Master of Wine Rhys Pender and partner Alishan Driediger, specialising in mineral-driven, low-intervention wines that are as honest about where they come from as any in the valley.

The wines are grown on the certified organic Mulberry Tree Vineyard, planted in 2009 and certified organic since 2014, on the siliceous mineral soils that give Little Farm’s Riesling and Chardonnay their signature bright freshness, food-friendly intensity, and only moderate alcohol. Rhys and Alishan consider themselves winegrowers rather than winemakers — their role is to let the natural character of the place and the grape speak for itself, with as little intervention as possible.

The range is produced in very small quantities across two series. The Pied de Cuve Series showcases single-variety expressions including Riesling, Chardonnay, and an orange wine. The Vineyard Series explores further dimensions of the estate fruit. Library vintages are available through the wine club for those interested in following the evolution of these wines over time.

For visitors who want to go deeper, the Vineyard Tour & Tasting with Rhys Pender is one of the most distinctive experiences on the Sip the Similkameen trail — a 45-minute immersion in the Similkameen’s terroir, organic farming philosophy, and low-intervention winemaking led by one of only a handful of Masters of Wine in Canada. Bookable online, minimum two people, maximum six.
