Wild at Heart Organic Orchard
The land at 3105 Highway 3 has been an orchard since approximately 1909. In the early 1990s, the property transitioned to organic growing, and since 2006, the Horricks family has farmed it as Wild at Heart — a 10-acre certified organic operation now in its second decade of harvest, deeply rooted in the Keremeos growing community.
The variety here goes well beyond what most stands offer. Wild at Heart specialises in tree-ripened fruit picked at genuine maturity: several varieties of apricots, 13 types of peaches, 6 varieties of nectarines, 10 varieties of plums, and 10 types of apples. The fruit is graded at harvest — cosmetically perfect fruit comes to the stand, while the best of the surplus goes into fresh-pressed organic apple juice, available in 3-litre bag-in-box direct from the farm. Natural foods and healthy snacks round out the stand’s offerings, making it a practical road-trip stop as well as a serious source of organic fruit.
Certified Organic by PACS (#16-314), the orchard also supplies select retailers across the region — but the stand on the west side of Keremeos, 1km from the village on the Crowsnest Highway, is where visitors can buy direct and taste the difference that a century of orchard land and two decades of organic farming produces.
A landmark stop in the Fruit Stand Capital of Canada, and one of the Similkameen Valley Farm Trail’s most authentic organic experiences.
