The Grist Mill & Gardens

Step back in time when you visit the Grist Mill and Gardens in Keremeos, the last remaining mill of its generation in British Columbia. Bring the family and spend the day here. You can watch the grains get milled into flour, tour the gardens, and have a picnic on the expansive grounds. Better yet, stay awhile at the family oriented campground nestled in the shade next to Keremeos Creek.

The Grist MillTours and Events

The Grist Mill has several great events throughout the year including live music, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Canada Day celebrations. Don’t worry about drinking and driving – Wine Your Way Tours will take you there and pick you up afterwards.

In the summer take part in old fashioned handi-crafts like their sheep to shawl fibre arts weekend. They also host workshops on traditional food craft, heritage gardening and farm to table fresh food experience.

In the fall, the Heritage Fall Fair, Apple Day, and the Heritage Harvest dinner are sure to draw the crowds. In the winter there are community bonfires and workshops.

You really can taste the Similkameen at the Grist Mill with their buttery scones, delicious jams, and fresh garden fruits and vegetables grown right onsite or at neighbouring farms. The colourful heritage flowers and other plants you see here are living artifacts from times gone by. There’s an herb garden, as well as an orchard loaded with heritage apples, wheat and other grains waving in the breeze, and a vegetable garden that grows peppers and several vegetables including gigantic heritage Zucca Melons that can grow fruit weighing upwards of 68 kg! (150 lbs.)
